Explosion protection document
The explosion protection document is a legally mandated record that assesses the workplace's explosion risk, captures the zone classification and defines the necessary protective measures. Every employer where an explosive atmosphere may form must prepare one — from a paint plant to a grain silo.
ViewAssessmentZone classification
Zone classification is the procedure that sorts explosive spaces into zones by the frequency and duration of the explosive atmosphere. The classification decides what protection level (Ex-marked) of equipment may be used in a given place — which is why it is the basis of every explosion protection measure.
ViewRiskExplosion protection risk assessment
The explosion protection risk assessment is the systematic survey of explosion risk: it identifies the hazard sources, the zones and the possible ignition sources, evaluates the level of risk, and defines the measures needed to reduce it. It is the professional core of the explosion protection document.
ViewOperationsEx audit (site inspection)
An Ex audit is the on-site expert review of an explosion-hazard plant: it checks whether the equipment, the documentation and the practice comply with the law and the standards, and uncovers gaps before an authority — or an incident — does.
